Guest Post~ My Mom

Hello out there! 🙂 I am Shelby’s mom and am your guest for today. December is one of my favorite months of the year. The time of year where we can take our focus off the everyday hustle and bustle of life. The time of year to focus on Jesus our Saviour. The time of year to be thankful for what God has done in sending his son.

I know for a lot of us life can be full of messes at times. We get sick, or have family that’s sick. We don’t have the money to buy others what we would like. We could be moving or behind in school. When things are like that we have a hard time being thankful and celebrating Jesus’s birth.

In the midst of all of the messes in life, let’s look back on that first Christmas. There was Mary and Joseph about to have a child. They had to travel to Bethlehem. They had no where to stay but in a stable. And had to put Jesus in a manger.  What a mess! Imagine. Tired from traveling on a donkey, 9 months pregnant, and not even a bed to sleep in. Only a stinky stable for the animals!

But in the midst of messes, our weaknesses, and our low points. That’s where God does his greatest works. That’s how great our God is!

So as I look to him this Christmas season. I look at what He gave us in sending His son that first Christmas. He gave us hope! Jesus the light of the world.

Romans 15:13 “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

He gave us love! God sent his son to suffer and die. His own son! To suffer and die.

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”

He gave us Joy and he gave us Peace!

What an amazing God we serve. He gives us all we need to come to him. He made the way! In this busy season lets focus on Him, the one who sent his very own son. Who gave us hope, love, joy, and peace.

Isaiah 9:6 “For unto us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

Merry Christmas ladies!
