Now for my post…. simply because I couldn’t write a post that short! 😉

“Let no one despise you because of your youth, but be an example”

I’ve been noticing that a lot of people these days say stuff like, “Oh, they’re young, let them be.” or “Oh, they’re just teens, you can’t expect them to act differently.” Well right now, as a teen, I am here to say that, Yes you can expect us to act differently. Teens act up because no one makes them behave. Because they’re rebellious, because they’re foolish. “Folly is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of correction will drive it far from him.”

I did a Bible study recently with a friend, and I pointed that verse out to him. The “Let no one despise you because of your youth, but be an example” Timothy is a really great letter series for teenagers and young adults. It really is an encouragement and an instructional tool. “Flee youthful lusts” “be pure” “don’t meddle with endless genealogies and fables” “till I come, give yourself to study and reading of the scriptures” “exhort older men as fathers, younger men as brothers, older women as mothers, younger women as sisters, in all purity” There’s so much good advice in there! I’ve read those books over about six times each in the last week to week and a half, and I’m still not tired of them! Titus, too, is also a really good book (Titus and Timothy were both young pastors)

So yah, in summary pretty much.. Teenagers, we are supposed to be examples to everyone else. We’re not this funny little category in society that doesn’t know how to behave. We’re the young generation that is supposed to be rising up, instructed for a fruitful life “commit these things that you have heard from me to faithful men who are able to teach”. That’s what we’re supposed to be, the one’s the messages and gospel are being given to to teach to others! We’re not these bunch of punks that can’t control themselves.

Timothy and Titus are my favourite letters in the Bible. Love them! Absolutely love them!

Hope the post made sense! 😀 I never know if they do or not, simply because I know what I’m thinking, and so I may not be clear enough at times.

Love,

Ruth
