The Importance of Family

Sometimes I wonder how girls my age can spend all day away from home, barely see their family, and feel fine about it. I spend most of my evenings dancing, and my public school friends pretty much go to school, go to dance, and go to bed. Oh, and don’t forget the hours of homework awaiting them!

They really don’t see their families very much. Their schedules just don’t allow it. They will come into class straight from school and start talking about how they haven’t seen their parents in days. I know that I could never do that. Your family is very important. Friends, they will come and go. But your family will always be there for you.

It really makes me value my life more. I am so blessed to be able to have the family that I do. They do so much for me and I appreciate them so much.

“The love of a family makes life beautiful”

We have this quote hanging up on our wall, and I really love it. Sometimes the most satisfying thing in life is getting to spend time with your family. Even if it’s something as little as just all being together. Those are the moments that I love and treasure. So guys, really just treasure your family and know how blessed you are to have them. Your family is one of the most important thing you have.

God Is Forgiving And Mericful

So, I’m going to use this post to complete a school assignment.  My assignment was to pick five bible verses on God’s mercy and forgiveness and write down what those verses mean to me.

Image result for bible verses on god's mercy and forgiveness

God’s forgiveness is a great example for us to forgive each other.  We have no right to God’s forgiveness and love, but he still loves us more than we can imagine!

The Lord is always there for us, he is always ready to forgive and wipe our slate clean.  All we need to do is hand him our mess ups and ask for his forgiveness.

When Jesus died for us he gave mercy and forgiveness.  When he died for us, Jesus showed that he loved us, even when we don’t deserve it.

God having mercy on us is a great example to us.  He is telling us in this verse to have mercy on others just like he had mercy on us.

This is God talking to Moses about how patient he had been with the Israelites.  No matter what we do God always has mercy for us.  We have a God slow to anger and abounding in love.  I’m so glad for my sake!

And, that is all five verses.  Whew!  What did some of these verses mean to you?  Please let me and other readers know in comments below. 🙂

Girl’s Living For God’s Glory – Episode 2

You can view episode 1 >>>HERE<<<

Last week, we talked about a quick overview of what a girl living for God’s glory is. It was mostly a summery of her trust in Christ. Today, I have something a little different planned.

A girl who is living for God’s glory looks like three things. One, she shows compassion to all. Two, she dresses appropriately; honoring both God, and her future husband. And three, her actions say so. All of these things are traits of a girl living for God’s glory. And this is what my point is for today.

If you have not read the last article, you are more than welcome to jump right in here, or go back and read the introduction first. For those of you who have not read the most recent article, this is a series focusing on the girl who is living for her Majesty’s glory. This series will hopefully open the eyes of many woman, young and old.

Let’s begin talking about the first trait I mentioned; showing compassion to all. What does that mean? Most likely, if someone has wronged you, you would want revenge. You might do something terrible, like hit them, cut their hair and mess it up, thrash their belongings, or something much more severe. Let me just say this- does revenge reflect Jesus Christ? No, surely not. He died for our sins, and He took it all on Himself.  They teased, beat, and mocked Him, but He didn’t seek revenge- He let the Lord handle it. And I believe that that is what a girl who is truly living for God’s glory should do.

The second one is of big importance to a young, growing girl, dressing appropriately; honoring both God, and her future husband. How do I go into more detail? Let me just say this- would a daughter of the Lord of hosts, child of the King of kings, wear clothes that make men- not her husband- think evil thoughts? No, no no no. Not only is it dishonoring God, but it’s invaliding your husband/future husband’s gift, given by God to the man you are meant to be with. What I mean by dressing appropriately, is not revealing too much, where it leaves major, well, you know what I am trying to say. Dress like God would want you to dress- not how Hollywood would want you to dress.

And finally, the third, which is something that there is absolutely NO escape from- actions. Something so slight, as a roll of the eyes, can set off the feeling that God isn’t living and shining through her. Maybe it’s something bigger, like the way you interact with someone you don’t want to be talking with. Or maybe something like your “enthusiasm” for a boy. I mean, if your not going CRAZY when your praying, but your going absolutely BONKERS for some boy, than there is something wrong- In other words, that boy is becoming a God. Bad action, caught! #1 commandment- Do not make any God’s before Him. These are all actions, disobedience, being a big doozy.

We’ve talked about showing compassion to all, dressing appropriately, and actions. These things should be clear, aside from me noting them. Compassion can be shown when your brother breaks your favorite necklace; dressing appropriately can be featured when your at the store or something, hopefully all day; and actions, well, those are sins, and sins can’t be avoided… but you can sure try. Practice makes perfect, you know.😉

Girl’s Living For God’s Glory – Episode I

Who is a girl living for God’s glory?

A girl living for her Savior’s glory is a child of God who is doing exactly what God wants her to do with her life, A daughter of the Lord who worships Him; through good and bad, A girl who trusts her savior with her life.

Lets talk about the first one, doing exactly what God wants her to do with her life. What does that mean? What exactly does it mean to do exactly what God wants you to do with your life? Well, first off, I guess you could say that it means not doing things that bring shame and disgrace on the name of the Lord. Things like using His name in vane, doing stuff outside of marriage, behavior that doesn’t reflect the Lord, and so on. But it can be hard to avoid, because sin is apart of us- sin is what makes us separate from God. It’s a shame to be sinful- especially when you know the difference between good and evil.

Now let’s talk about the second one, worship Him; through good and bad. Rejoicing is easy when times are easy. But what happens when things are bad? Should we lose sight of the Lord? Fear? Run, maybe? Or should we stay rooted in the the Lord? Have joy, no matter what? Trust, no matter what? I think that the second option is a much better choice. A girl who is living for the glory of God is a girl who should be happy in the Lord, no matter the circumstance. Our joy will shine through the heart of God’s child, and that’s how we all should strive to try and be like. Even though it can be hard, really hard.

And- the third one. Trusting your savior with your LIFE. Now, what does it mean to trust God with your life? This one, I will never completely be able to grasp the full strength and power. It’s really hard to live fearlessly, knowing that your only protection is God. But at the same time, it’s so reassuring. But sometimes we wonder, what if the Lord won’t protect me today? Well, that’s when you realize that something is wrong with your faith. And most likely, it’s because your doubting the Lord. Whatever the reason is, there is one. How to fix it is completely up to you and God- and you and God alone. That’s what trusting Him is about- knowing that you can fall, and He will catch you.

The Lord has His hand over your life, he will protect you, and he will guide you.

Faith, is almost mysterious, right?  It’s believing in something that you can’t see.  And for some people that can be really hard to grasp.  Most of us need to physically see something to believe it.  But do you know as believers we can see physical results of our faith?  People hearts being changed, people healing from conditions that are almost impossible to survive from, needs being met from day to day and feeling Jesus’ presence in us.  I think that we can forget that.  Remember, we serve the same God that the disciples of the Bible did.  So, if you are going through a hard time of believing, remember that!

Character Analysis

Hello everyone!

My dance school is doing a show about the Nativity, and they assigned each one of us to write an one page character analysis on whatever character they gave us for the show. They wanted us to do is so that we could learn more about our characters and really be able to feel what they were going through during that time. That way it would make our show look more like we’re telling a story, rather than just dancing. I am going to be the angel Gabriel in our show, therefore I had to write a character analysis about him. Today, I thought that I’d share my paper with you all. I hope that you enjoy it and maybe learn something new about Gabriel.

( Note : they wanted us to not only write different facts and such about our character, but they also wanted us to write about what sort of movement quality’s we thought that we should use from a dancers perspective. That is what my last few paragraphs are about.

What would it be like to be a messenger of the Lord? Scripture doesn’t say much about the emotions of the angel Gabriel, so I can’t really say how he truly felt. For me though, I know that if I was chosen to share this Good News, I would be humbled. Maybe a little nervous as well, hoping that this young girl would receive the news well that she was carrying the Messiah.

People were most likely scared of Gabriel because he came from the presence of God. In Exodus 34, Moses spoke with God and was in His presence. After he came down from Mount Sinai, it said that he was unaware that his face was radiant because he had spoken with the Lord. When Aaron and all of the Israelites saw Moses, they were afraid to come near him. In both instances, God’s glory and holiness reflected off of both Moses and Gabriel.

Besides being a messenger, Gabriel’s main purpose was to give glory to God. The name Gabriel means “ Mighty One of God” and I believe that he is a really good example of giving glory to God, and also being a good messenger of the Lord.

One fact that I found neat about Gabriel was that he is one of only two angels that was explicitly named in the Bible. He was the first angel ever mentioned in the Bible, and then the other angel, Michael, was mentioned in Revelation.

As for thinking about Gabriel from a dancer’s perspective, I think that he should retain the emotion of a joyous attitude. He has been sent by God to tell Mary that she will give birth to the King, what greater news could there be to tell?

For the movement quality, I think that it should be a mixture of both gracefulness and strength. He is an angel and therefore the moment should look light and graceful, but I think that it should also look strong and grounded at the same time.

Have a great week!

The Truth of A Friend

I’m so sorry that I’m a day late with my posting.  I hope you all don’t mind that I’m posting a day late.

Today, I’m talking about the truth of  a friend.  These two proverbs I posted up top, are ones that I read the other day for school.  As I read them I kind of pondered what they meant.  So, this is what I thought…

  1. A True friend ALWAYS tells the truth… I think now of days we are always so busy trying to impress our friends and are always so busy trying to stay on their good side, we forget to build each other up.  As Christian friends, we are supposed to build each other up and lead each other in the faith.  For example: If you start going down the wrong path and start into some sin, would you want your friends to show you the corrections and help you towards the right path?  Maybe, at the moment you wouldn’t; you would want them to leave you alone and let you run your own life.  But, what if what you were doing was going to hurt you, and you just couldn’t see it at the time?  You would probably feel pretty grateful.  I know I would.  And I think your friend would feel pretty grateful too.  So, please tell the truth with each other.  In the end, telling the truth will help grow your relationship as friends.
  2.  Do it with love… Notice that Proverbs 17:17 says, A friend loves at all times.  Maybe, you are going to a friend to talk about a decision they made that you don’t completely agree with.  When you get there you start yelling at them, telling them how stupid they were to make that decision.  Do you think they would respond very well?  Remember,  you are going to them about the problem because you care about them, and you want what’s best for them.  Go to them gently, just tell them how you are feeling with love.  They will respond much better.

So, that’s what I got out of those two proverbs.  What did you get out of these proverbs?  Let me know in comments below.

See you guys later!

Struggles In Faith

Hello everyone!

It has been WAY TOO LONG since I have posted, and I am so sorry Maddy for not! I will try to be better at it. Anyway, today I am posting about Struggles in faith. I guess for most teenagers/12 years old Christian girls, this is a critical time in our walk with Jesus, our Lord and Savior. For some of us, school is influencing us for the worst… or maybe it’s friends, or even self-doubt. I know how it is. Most defiantly, I’ve been having problems in my walk. But you know what, as I say this, I realize that it’s not a problem, it’s a push, a shove. God is giving me (or allowing) these issues and dilemmas for a reason, and I’d like to believe it’s to strengthen me in my faith.

It’s not easy feeling in between on your faith. It certainly isn’t easy. You never know that if you die right then and there, if you will be saved or not… It can be scary.

What do you do?

Well, sorry, but I can’t help you there. I am still trying to figure that much out for myself… I’m afraid. But you know what, we have to forget about drowning, and trust in God… Walk upon the water, and trust. The only way I know of to help you in your faith is surround yourself with the Bible, Christian (and I mean STRONG Christian encouragers) friends, and your family… Honestly, even though we might fight and try to do it on our own, it’s all in vain. I just go and talk to my mom. Find someone that genuinely loves and cares for you… Go to them and pray, talk with them, let them build you up… Don’t try to fight it alone… Without God, you can’t do it. But with him, anything is possible.

Again, I am sorry for not posting lately, I will try to more often!

In Christ,

Allie Taylor

What I like about the song Jesus is Better

Heyy everyone! Today I’m doing another What I like About This Song.

What I Like About the Song
Jesus is Better by Austin Stone

There is no other, so sure and steady
My hope is held in Your hand
When castles crumble, and breath is fleeting
Upon this rock I will stand, upon this rock I will stand
Glory, glory, we have no other king
But Jesus Lord of all
We raise the anthem our loudest praises ring
We crown Him Lord of all
Your kindly rule has shattered and broke
The curse of sin’s tyranny
My life is hidden ‘neath Heaven’s shadow
Your crimson flood covers me
Your crimson flood covers me
In all my sorrows
Jesus is better, make my heart believe
In every vict’ry
Jesus is better, make my heart believe
Than any comfort
Jesus is better, make my heart believe
More than all riches
Jesus is better, make my heart believe
Our souls declaring:
Jesus is better, make my heart believe
Our song eternal:
Jesus is better, make my heart believe

I love these lyrics because it’s so true.
Jesus is Better.
I love the line that says,
In Every Sorrow, Jesus is Better, Make my Heart Believe.
More than all riches
Jesus is Better, Make my heart believe.

We all struggle with not putting God first.
And it’s hard.
But I want to pray and ask God to make him first.
To know that Jesus is Better than any riches.
Than any victory.
Than any comfort.
That he is better.

I understand it’s hard to maybe give something up because you think that it is pulling it apart from you and God. But Jesus is Better. And ask God to make you heart believe that.

Jesus is Better, Make My Heart Believe

Have a great rest of the week!
