Things I learned in 2016

Hey it’s 2017. Like duh it has been for a while Ellie. But anywho, I wanted to share some things I learned in 2016. Hope you like 😀

1. There is ALWYAYS something to be thankful for.

Yes, I know there are hard times where we really need something, but we need to always stay thankful. God has blessed us so much. Firstly, it’s a blessing we’re even alive. Then, we have our family and friends and so many other things.

2. Prayer is powerful.

I’ve prayed so much this year and God has answered my prayers. Even if the result wasn’t exactly what I wanted, I was satisfied and I knew God had a plan which leads me to say…

3. God always has a plan.

This year I gained an interest for gymnastics. I have a dream that someday it could become my career. That seems totally impossible though because of how old I am. But when I feel inspired to become a gymnast and I doubt myself, I remember God has a plan. No matter how impossible it might seem, if that is God’s plan for my life, then it isn’t impossible. If it isn’t, his plan for me to become a gymnast, it’s okay. I know his plan is better than mine.

4. Always be yourself.

This blogging year has been hard for me because I read so many blogs and they’re all interested in writing and reading. That really isn’t me though. I’m different. And sometimes I try to think of posts that will please the crowd, but I have to remember to be myself. Not to compare myself to others. But to be me. To be unique.

5. Correctly others always won’t help them.

There are some people that I try to correct, but I’ve learned this year, it’s not helping. We need to be a light to them. We need to love them. All they need is encouragement. When you correct someone that tears them down, but when you love someone that builds them up. That encourages them to be better. So love others.

bouncing in to say bye,

What I like about the song Jesus is Better

Heyy everyone! Today I’m doing another What I like About This Song.

What I Like About the Song
Jesus is Better by Austin Stone

There is no other, so sure and steady
My hope is held in Your hand
When castles crumble, and breath is fleeting
Upon this rock I will stand, upon this rock I will stand
Glory, glory, we have no other king
But Jesus Lord of all
We raise the anthem our loudest praises ring
We crown Him Lord of all
Your kindly rule has shattered and broke
The curse of sin’s tyranny
My life is hidden ‘neath Heaven’s shadow
Your crimson flood covers me
Your crimson flood covers me
In all my sorrows
Jesus is better, make my heart believe
In every vict’ry
Jesus is better, make my heart believe
Than any comfort
Jesus is better, make my heart believe
More than all riches
Jesus is better, make my heart believe
Our souls declaring:
Jesus is better, make my heart believe
Our song eternal:
Jesus is better, make my heart believe

I love these lyrics because it’s so true.
Jesus is Better.
I love the line that says,
In Every Sorrow, Jesus is Better, Make my Heart Believe.
More than all riches
Jesus is Better, Make my heart believe.

We all struggle with not putting God first.
And it’s hard.
But I want to pray and ask God to make him first.
To know that Jesus is Better than any riches.
Than any victory.
Than any comfort.
That he is better.

I understand it’s hard to maybe give something up because you think that it is pulling it apart from you and God. But Jesus is Better. And ask God to make you heart believe that.

Jesus is Better, Make My Heart Believe

Have a great rest of the week!

Catechism Questions

For my bible study I memorize catechism questions.

I really like these two I’ve been memorizing.
What is you only comfort in life in and death?
That I am not my own, but belong body and soul in life in death to my faithful Savior Jesus Christ. He has fully paid for all my sins and has set me free from the tyranny of the devil. He also watches over me in such a way that not a hair from my head may fall without the will of the Father in heaven; in fact all things must work together for my salvation. Because I belong to him, Christ, by his Holy Spirit assures me of eternal life and makes me whole-heartedly willing and reading to live for Him.

I really like this whole thing, but I highlighted the words that I think are really important. I love how it says, “All things must work together for my salvation.” That’s so comforting to know. That God is in control and everything that happens in my life works together for my salvation.

What must you know to live and die in the joy of this comfort?
Three things: How great my sin and misery are; how I am set free from all my sin and misery; and how I should thank God for such deliverance.

Again just the things I highlighted were some really important stuff. How GREAT MY sin and misery are. I am horrible. I am a horrible sinner. BUT, I am SET FREE FROM ALL my sin and misery. I am set free from ALL of that horrible stuff. And I SHOULD THANK GOD for that. Because he is so GOOD to me. So good. He died for me. He died for the the one who constantly disobeys him. He died for the girl who complains about lots of things when I don’t deserve anything I have.

I hope you like this post and it helps you!
Remember to NEVER stop thanking God for the great things he has done.
Even if you’re going through something horrible.
You’re still breathing because of him.
You still have food because of him.
You still have clothes because of him.
Remember that.

Please give me some feedback. I’d love to hear from you awesome people.

Psalms 42

Hello everyone!

It’s Ellie!

I read this Psalm this week and it really comforted me.

Hope this comforts you too! 🙂

Psalms 42

As the deer pants for streams of water,
so my soul pants for you, my God.
My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.
When can I go and meet with God?
My tears have been my food
    day and night,
while people say to me all day long,
    “Where is your God?”
These things I remember
as I pour out my soul:
how I used to go to the house of God
under the protection of the Mighty One[d]
with shouts of joy and praise
    among the festive throng.

Why, my soul, are you downcast?
    Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him,
    my Savior and my God.

My soul is downcast within me;
    therefore I will remember you
from the land of the Jordan,
the heights of Hermon—from Mount Mizar.
Deep calls to deep
    in the roar of your waterfalls;
all your waves and breakers
    have swept over me.

By day the Lord directs his love,
at night his song is with me—
a prayer to the God of my life.

I say to God my Rock,
    “Why have you forgotten me?
Why must I go about mourning,
    oppressed by the enemy?”
10 My bones suffer mortal agony
    as my foes taunt me,
saying to me all day long,
    “Where is your God?”

11 Why, my soul, are you downcast?
    Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him,
    my Savior and my God.

I hope this encourages you this week.

Always remember through your hard times, God is with you.

He has a plan for you. And he will never leave you! 🙂

5 Tips for Memorizing Bible Verses

Today I wanted to post some tips for memorizing.

We use memorization a lot in scriptures and school.

And I’m not just here to say some things that help me.

And I hope they help you too.

It’s really good to memorize bible verses because when your in a hard time you can remember that verse.

My first tip is to say it over and over again.

Sometimes it’s annoying saying it many times but it really helps.

Second, to memorize it in little bits.

If you’re memorizing a couple verses learn one verse then once you’re ready learn the second verse. That helps so you’re not overwhelming yourself.

Thirdly, sing your verse.

Make a tune out of it. I once had a big Psalm to do. It made it so much easier when I made a little tune out of it.

Fourthly, read it a lot.

Put it as your lock screen. Tape it by your bed. Read it a lot. It helps.

And fifthly, ask God to help you.

Praying is awesome. Ask God to help you. It works guys!

I hope these are helpful!

Comment below if you’re memorizing a verse and tell me what it is.

Thanks for reading!

Why Going to Church is Important

Hey guys! Every Friday I post encouraging posts on my own blog. So, I have this little post that I posted on my blog and I’d like to share with you. Hope you like!

After my camp they gave me some cool books to read one called “Live Smart.”

It’s a really good book that I recommend you to read.
But I’m reading about You+God.
1. Fear God.
2. Know the Bible and Pray like Crazy
and 3. Love the Church.
I decided I wanted to talk about 3. Love the Church because it’s a topic that I really agree on.
One reason why kids who go to camps can often stray away from Christ after the camp even though they loved God at the camp is because most of them do not have a church that they go to.
The church is one of the main reasons why I love God so much.
Because I see all the people who love God and I want to be like them.
When I go to my church I always see happy faces hugging and loving others while encouraging them.
And that makes me want to be like that.
One reason why kids can often stray away from God is because they don’t have a church.
And why does that matter you ask?
Because all around you in the church is people who have the same problems as you do?
They all have struggles obeying and putting Jesus first.
A lot I can find myself discouraged to do something like fast internet or read the bible because all around the world people don’t care about that.
And it’s very encouraging to go to a church where people want to read the bible and want to put God first.
In the book it said that the church is not perfect but it is healthy.
It might not be perfect, but these are the things that we need to look in a church.

The Fellowship of the Believers

42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
1. They Were Devoted to the Apostle’s Teaching
Sometimes you can find churches that don’t always use the bible as their main tool.
the apostle’s teaching is actually the New Testament.
Next time you are at church or are visiting a church listen carefully and see if they use they’re bible a lot. Do they base their sermon on a scripture? Do they use scriptures to make points?
2. They Were Devoted to One Another
The people in the church encourage you to deepen you love for Christ. They mourn and love you when hard times are in your life. And they care for each other by helping them. This week some of the men of my church went to build a ramp for a man in the church for his wheelchair after his surgery. They helped him by making him a ramp in this hard time for him. When you look at your church do you see people talking after the service or do they all just leave quickly? I know just even talking to someone who is going through someone can help. Even if you don’t even talk about this matter together they are encouraged and know they have someone to go to.
3.  They Were Devoted to the Gospel
In Acts 2 is shows how they people were dedicated to the gospel. After the author of this book was saved on June 22, 1986 he said his life changed greatly because he trusted Christ and he became apart of a local church. Seeing people just like you loving God and wanting to deepen that relationships helps and encourages you A LOT.
“I wish I’d have been a believer younger in life, so I could have taken advantage of all the things you can. I missed out on all the camps, the church groups, the Sunday school classes, Dan Dumas the author says. But since I became a Christian, I’ve been a part of the church, and I haven’t left. I don’t want to leave either. There’s too much to gain from belonging to something so big, so important, and so glorious. Jump in with both feet!”
just like he said it guys jump in if you haven’t.
if you’re not so interested in being apart of helping the church with events.
do it.
it will change you life.
and also read this book.
Dan gives a plead to you.
To be apart of a church.
Because he didn’t when he was young.
And he regretted it

My God is Amazing

So today is not my day to post, but I haven’t posted in a while so here’s something I posted on my own blog a couple of weeks ago.

Seriously everybody my God is amazing!

Welcome to Good Apples Friday

I am here today to remind you of how great your God is. And how loving he is towards you.

Today for my bible study I had the joy of reading the last to chapter sadly of Live Smart. I recently posted about this book and how we should love the church a couple weeks ago and I’m here again with some other awesomeness from this book.

Know the Gospel

For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

2nd Corinthians 5:21

At first I didn’t really get this verse, but now after hearing this chapter it really comes clear.

What do you feel like most of the time when you get very bad score on a test? I feel very discouraged. But what about this kind of score? What if I told you that every single day I pray to God saying, “God please let me obey you today. Please let me love others. Please let me have a good attitude and obey my parents.” And after that I hate on others. I don’t obey my parents and if I do I whine horribly about it. And that makes me feel so discouraged. So mad. That I can’t go one hour without sinning against God. Without just saying two words after my mom tells me to do something. Yes mom. Why? And it makes me feel so sorry to God. I failed. I totally failed. That test was to see if I could obey my mom with a good attitude and I failed.

But God sees this and he is sorry for us. He loves us and he doesn’t want us to go to hell. He wants us to be with him forever. So he looks at his son and his perfect score. Jesus, lived a perfect life. Absolutely no sins. And what reward does Jesus get for that perfect score. Would you take the blame for all of Ellie’s sins and every ones sins and die for them. I get so mad when sometimes my dad said I meant to spill the water on the table when really it was just an accident. Imagine people hating on Jesus and making him die for something he never even did. But he loved us enough that he did that for us. He died for us. He took my blame. Okay thank you Jesus!

And it gets better too! Not only did Jesus take my blame, but he gave me his perfect score. I’m clean. You are clean guys! Jesus gave you his perfect score. His 100% on one of the hardest I mean hardest tests of your life. He gave it to you. oh boy girls you are loved. you are loved!

Martin Luther called this the “great exchange.” You know what I deserve? Eternal death. You know what Jesus deserves? Eternal life with Jesus Christ. And you know what I received instead of what I deserve. Eternal life with Jesus Christ. And you know what Jesus received instead of what he deserved. death. And he did die. But he rose from the dead. And now we will have eternal life with him in heaven. Oh thank you Jesus. I do not deserve ANYTHING. But you gave me eternal life.

This is why my God is amazing.

And I hope you think that too.

Now spread this to everyone you see.

And let them see the joy that you have too.

That Jesus died for you and he is risen!

Psalms 63

Today is not my day to post, but I lost track of what week is my day to post so I’m posting now. Hope you like!

Today I would like to share with you a Psalm that I read today.

You, God, are my God,

    earnestly I seek you;

I thirst for you,

my whole being longs for you,

in a dry and parched land

    where there is no water.

I have seen you in the sanctuary

and beheld your power and your glory.

Because your love is better than life,

    my lips will glorify you.

I will praise you as long as I live,

and in your name I will lift up my hands.

I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods;

with singing lips my mouth will praise you.

On my bed I remember you;

I think of you through the watches of the night.

Because you are my help,

I sing in the shadow of your wings.

I cling to you;

    your right hand upholds me.

Those who want to kill me will be destroyed;

they will go down to the depths of the earth.

10 They will be given over to the sword

    and become food for jackals.

11 But the king will rejoice in God;

all who swear by God will glory in him,

while the mouths of liars will be silenced.

I especially loved verse 3.

Because you love is better than life.

And it is!

And I pray that that would be our song.

That his love is better than life.

I would be open to any prayer requests in the comments below.

I would ask you to pray for my friend’s dad who’s sick.

And also my friend who’s very sick.
