Where’s God in Turmoil?

So hey everyone! This is my first post here, so excuse any mistakes or how irrelevant things seem. 🙂

Anyways, my family and I are currently trying to move so we can be closer to our church (which is currently 50 minuets away) and so that we can have more space to grow things and stuff.

Anywho, every time that we find a house, it’s immediately sold. We’ve even placed some offers on some, but we lost. It’s quite frustrating because so many of the houses seem like they’d be a perfect fit for out eight person family. And every time that we lose a bid, or a house gets snatched up, my sister always says, “If we didn’t get it, then God doesn’t want us to live there.” Or something along the lines of that.

We’ve prayed many times, but we have yet to find something, and our houses have yet to sell. So what on earth is God doing? Well the answer is simple: it’s not on earth that God is planning for my family, it’s in Heaven. His thoughts are above our’s, he can see the ultimate ending. We’ve just got to believe in him.

Commit to the Lord whatever you do,
and he will establish your plans.

Proverbs 16:3 NIV
When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers,
they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire,
you will not be burned;
the flames will not set you ablaze.

Isaiah 43:2 NIV
We need to trust in the Lord. Whether it’s about moving plans, or where you’re going to go to college. If you have trouble trusting in the Father above, or even if you don’t, try praying to him or reading your Bible. If you don’t know where to look in your Bible just search Bible verses about trusting God, you’ll be amazed with all that you find.
And I have one more Bible verse before I leave everyone to the rest of their day. I’m sure you’ve all heard this one many times, but what’s one more time?
Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap
or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father

feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

Matthew 6:26 NIV
Thanks everyone for your time! I hope you have a blessed day!!

  1. Hey Alyssa,

    I think your first post is a great one – practical and wise all at the same time!

    It is hard when God closes doors, isn’t it! It sounds like your family is having to learn to be very flexible as you wait for the perfect home.

    Don’t you love knowing that God has the perfect home for you! He knows where you need to live, who your next door neighbors need to be, and exactly when you need to get into the new home.

    I came over on Raising Homemakers today, and I’m glad to find your post.

    Hope you have a blessed day~

    1. Thanks! And yes, it’s great to know that in his timing he will reveal the best house scenario for us in His timing. Another fact that I don’t think I mentioned is that we have three foster kids, so the house has to meet certain rules which makes it all the more difficult. But God will give us the perfect place. 🙂

      Anyways, I’m so glad that you could come by and read my post. Your comment made my day!

  2. Good post, Alyssa. Great point.

    We actually went through something very similar recently. We were trying to move closer to church, but every house we liked kept getting snapped up. Eventually, though, someone bought our house and we got a newly built one. Everything worked out in the end. I’ll pray for you and your family!
